Wall Area = 2 × (Length + Width) × Height
Ceiling Area = Length × Width
Total = Wall Area + Ceiling Area

Why the 10% Waste Factor?
Drywall involves cutting and fitting around corners and outlets. You will always have off-cuts that can't be used. Adding 10% ensures you don't run out mid-job.
The Variance: Reality vs. Math
Calculators provide an "ideal" estimate, but the job site often has a variance of 5-15% due to:
- Room Complexity: L-shaped rooms or rooms with many "ins and outs" generate significantly more waste than a simple rectangle.
- Ceiling Height: If your walls are 9ft tall, using 8ft sheets creates a horizontal seam that requires more material and labor.
- Non-Standard Openings: Our calculator assumes 21 sqft for doors and 12 sqft for windows. Large sliding glass doors or custom windows will change your net area.
